HENRY GOES HOME!
Henry Learns to Sit
Henry had to work very, very hard to learn to sit. He thought he was being bad if he put his butt on the floor. Finally, after a lot of practice, he got it right! He also learned to gently take offered treats. It's very hard to be delicate when you're used to fighting for your food!

What the Boys Do While We're at Work
Foster mom came home unexpectedly during lunch and found the boys playing around on the couch. They didn't even stop when she got the camera. Can you believe these two act like they hardly know each other when people are around? Duncan must confess that it's ok to have a fun, goofy foster brother like Henry. Duncan himself is a rescue from IBR, so he knows all about forever homes and he's assured Henry that his is out there somewhere.

Wow, toys are the best
Henry with his favorite toy, the pink frog.
He puts them on the floor and sits in front of them, enchanted. He can't quite believe that they are his to play with.
He carries them one by one into the yard. Next step: teach him to put them away at night.
The Heart of an Athlete
Vet visit report (from Henry):
Today the foster people took me to the vet. Last time I was there I got a shot. I thought maybe if I hid behind one of them the vet wouldn't notice me. Rats, it didn't work. I got weighed. Me and my tennis ball weigh 56 pounds. The vet technician and the vet both listened to my heart and they both commented that I have a steady, slow beat. They said I have the healthy heart of a real athlete! The vet said my weight was perfect and my teeth are very nice and clean. I got my last distemper booster, got some nice treats, and then I was outta there!

Kitties Love Him
Henry got to visit Noah's Ark today, his neighborhood pet store. There were many exciting smells. There were also lots of little kittens and 3 or 4 cats in a very small space. Henry politely greated them. A little gray tabby took a liking to him and batted him on the nose several times. Henry was very tolerant and just watched her antics. Henry is cat tested, cat approved!

Faithful computer companion
Henry loves to sit nearby while his people work on the computer.
At first he didn't understand the concept of a dog pillow and would cram himself among the computer cords in the corner on the floor. He couldn't believe that there was a soft dog bed just for him. He thinks it's a luxury just being off the cold, hard ground. But he's quickly learned to appreciate his special bed.
Henry says it's a lot of hard work supervising these foster people. He's squeezed into a tight spot under the downstairs computer desk, keeping watch. However, little by little, his head gets too heavy to hold up and he flops on the floor (below).
Sweet Dreams of a new forever home!
A Dream on the Leash
Henry might be the easiest dog in the world to walk. He's a dream on the leash. No pulling, no fuss, no muss. Check it out! You can walk him with two fingers!

Mirror Man
Henry the cuddlebug
Henry is Safe in Foster Care!

Here's sweet Henry at Illinois Birddog Rescue's Birddog Balooza party and picnic. Henry is a sturdy 58 pound dog with a beautiful thick, graceful tail. Henry was discarded by a breeder in Benton, Illinois, where he spent his life kenneled outside. Living in a house and learning commands is new to him, but he's eager to learn the ropes. Like the other Benton setters that IBR has rescued, Henry clearly appreciates being saved. He's been neutered, has had all his shots and he's ready for his forever home. He is a gentle dog with much love to offer.
